From November 5th – 6th, MCNV participated in the 8th International Conference on Public Health Among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional Countries, entitled “Moving toward Universal Health Care Coverage: Strengthening Quality of Care”.
Prof Dr Jaap Koot chaired a wide ranging roundtable on Learning from Evidence Based Policy Making, in which MCNV and its partners in Lao PDR disussed their experiences on the EU funded LEARN program. The roundtable brought together partners from Bangladesh, Myanmar and Lao PDR to discuss topics such as knowledge translation, policy analyis and dialogue with an audience drawn from across the region. The discussion included a debate on how to ensure that research evidence is considered by busy policy makers.
At the conference Dr. Yod Thongmixay, a PhD student supported by the LEARN program won an award for best presenter.
MCNV is very much looking forward to contributing to next years conference to be held in Yangon, Myanmar, which will focus on Non-Communicable Diseases and Healthy Lifestyles.
