MCNV was delighted to support the 10th National Health Forum held in Savannakhet province, Lao PDR, as part of the EU funded LEARN program. Participants were welcomed the forum by H.E. Santiphah Phonmivihanh, Governor of Savannakhet Province and H.E. Kamphone Phouthavong, Vice Minister of Health who both stressed the importance of high quality health research.
The forum brought together a wide range of over 180 researchers from Lao PDR and across the region, in particular development partners from Japan. Participants included the four PhD candidates who recently studied in Amsterdam. Topics examined included innovation for health research, multi-disciplinary approaches to research, nutrition, and virology. The EU joined with other supporters in their delight in seeing such a vibrant forum and Mr. Guus Paardekooper, General Director of MCNV expressed continued to support for nurturing research talent to help ensure Lao PDR can achieve its sustainable development goals.
